Hello, dearest reader!
Today’s post will be short and sweet. After a year+ of building strength and practicing jumping, it’s time to switch up the routine. I had a great chat with my coach1 a couple weeks ago, and there are four main takeaways from our chat.
The chat was recorded, but I’m barely even an average writer and I’m way worse as a “podcaster.” Video editing is hard, but I do it for you. You can expect to see our low-quality but insightful chat broken into four videos, with the four corresponding topics included in Phase Two of this journey. In addition, I’ll walk through how I’ve been incorporating the changes into my routine, but as I mentioned, video editing is hard so don’t get greedy. That part will be my thoughts and ramblings, just like this. Summarily, the next posts will include the video of the chat and my early work and thoughts in incorporating these changes. Cherry on top, they might even be a little more frequent! But don’t hold your breath.
Entering this new phase has me energized for this journey in a way that has been missing for some time. It is important that you know this, since you’ve been following this journey and wondering, probably for many moons, “Will this guy ever actually dunk a basketball?” I’m refreshed and continuing to work towards it, so the answer is yes, and hopefully, hopefully, sometime soonish. I’m not going to commit to anything since that went poorly last time (do I need to change the name of this substack?), but we look for progress and we build on it. Leave a comment on when you think I’ll hit this stupid dunk:
Okay thanks, back to Phase Two.
Since I’ve done such a great job at piquing your interest, I’ll end with a little teaser: Coach has me moving away from strength training (lifting really heavy weights). How does that make any sense for someone needing to add inches to their vertical?
Tune in soon for the answers! Or unsubscribe lol this is all pretty ridiculous but we have fun here at Dunk Day.
Thanks, as always, for jammin with me!

Coach is Doctor Andrew, PT. He is also my brother. I got you from the last post, didn’t I?
I like the pic. I thought coach was all about strength training so interested to see what he says.
